Mama always told me,
‘there’s plenty of fish in the sea.’
But she forgot our dying ecosystem.
Cyanide, dynamites, and scanty hearts poisoned over greed.
My palate knows adulterated meat.
Science tells us the more exotic animals are,
the more poisonous they are.
Mono-lids, flat nose, black haired, yellow skin.
My exoticism is my protection."
Combining the western saying “plenty of fish in the sea” with the Eastern saying, “plenty of birds in the sky”, I created 2 final looks that embodies the materiality of my poem.
